Employment Authorization for Spouses of L-1 Intracompany Transferees

On January 16, 2002, President Bush signed into law provisions amending the Immigration and Nationality Act by authorizing the employment of spouses of L-1 Intracompany Transferees who have been lawfully admitted to the United States and are maintaining the integrity of their lawful presence.  To obtain employment authorization and a document evidencing such authorization, the L nonimmigrant spouse must file form I-765 with the required fee at the appropriate INS Service Center.
